In this seminar I review the current knowledge of the heaviest particle in the Standard Model. A summary is given of measurements of top properties and interactions at the Tevatron and the LHC, highlighting the top quark mass measurement, the charge asymmetry in top-quark pair production, top electro-weak couplings and its interactions with the Higgs boson. For each of these measurements I discuss the potential of future colliders to improve the measurement beyond the LHC prospects. Finally, I discuss the interpretation of all top-quark studies in terms of an effective field theory that extends the Standard Model Lagrangian with dimension-6 operators representing the impact of massive new states.Point
