In this seminar, I will introduce some of the physics that is explored with ultracold atoms for people unfamiliar with this field. I will first explain the basics of how these experiments are realised and how they enable to create quantum gases. The general properties and theoretical descriptions of these quantum gases will be briefly reviewed. Then I will discuss different kinds of physics that can be investigated with these gases, in particular universal few- and many-body physics in the quantum regime.
