It is with great sorrow that we have to tell you that the chair of the SNP school 2012, Professor Osamu Hashimoto, Tohoku University, has passed away on 3rd Feb. 2012 in Sendai, at the age of 64, after the battle with pancreatic cancer.

He was a great leader in strangeness nuclear physics as well as a strong promoter for young scientists. The SNP school 2012 was initiated and promoted much by him. We would like to make it success. We believe that it will meet his wish.
