研究会が無事に終了しました。ご協力いただき誠にありがとうございました。次回2023年度は大阪大学で開催する予定です。

QBI2022最優秀発表賞は東北大学の木野量子さんと大阪大学の朝倉一統さんに授与されました。おめでとうございます。

開催趣旨

赤外線・X線・ガンマ線等の光子や、電子、中性子、分子、イオンといった量子線を検出・解析する科学技術は、素粒子・原子核物理学、宇宙物理学、物質科学から生命科学、医学にいたる広い分野で重要な貢献を果たしてきました。近年、これらの領域のイメージング検出技術が著しく発展しています。また、理学・工学や産官学の連携も進み、新展開が生まれつつあります。ここに、分野を横断して「量子線イメージング」を議論する場を設け、科学技術の発展と新分野の創成を目指した研究会を開催します。本研究会は理研シンポジウムとして開催されます。

Keynote Lectures


Ben Mazin (UC Santa Barbara)   "Large scale MKID imager for Subaru telescope"

Abstract:
   Optical and near-IR Microwave Kinetic Inductance Detectors, or MKIDs, are superconducting detectors that can tell you the energy and arrival time of each individual photon without false counts. In this talk I will discuss the recent progress. My group has made on improving MKID spectral resolution and fielding them at some of the largest telescopes in the world. I will also discuss our efforts to broaden the scientific relevance of these detectors to other fields, including biological microscopy and dark matter detection.

Katsuyuki Taguchi (Johns Hopkins University)   "Photon counting CT: It’s revolution, not evolution"

Abstract:
  The first clinical photon counting x-ray computed tomography (CT) system has been cleared by FDA in fall, 2021 and that increased interests among radiology and medical physics communities. In this presentation, we will review technical challenges, clinical applications, and future perspectives.

Mark Bautz(MIT)  "Toward low-noise, high-frame rate CCDs for future strategicX-ray space missions"

Abstract:
  Photon-counting charge-coupled devices (CCDs) have been the imaging detector of choice for soft (~0.1-10 keV) X-ray astronomy for nearly three decades. In this talk I will briefly review the characteristics of CCDs that have made them successful, and discuss several challenges in adapting this technology to meet the needs of future X-ray missions, with particular emphasis on large observatories with high-angular resolution imaging capabilities. I’ll provide a high-level overview of technical advances that are improving CCD performance, and present results from devices recently fabricated at MIT Lincoln Laboratory. I’ll conclude with an attempt to compare CCDs and scientific CMOS sensors for these applications.
