The Far-Forward Frontier at the LHC: Bridging QCD, New Physics, and Astroparticle Physics

The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN has greatly advanced our understanding of fundamental particles, most notably through the discovery of the Higgs boson. While most measurements have focused on particles emitted at large angles with respect to the beam, a significant fraction of the collision energy is carried into the forward direction, close to the beam axis. This region has remained largely unexplored due to the challenging environment near the beam, but is now becoming accessible through new experimental approaches. In this talk, I introduce forward physics at the LHC as a complementary approach to particle physics. I highlight recent results, including the observation of neutrinos produced in collider experiments and new measurements from the FASER experiment, operating at the LHC since 2022 as part of LHC Run 3. I also discuss how forward measurements provide a unique link between new physics, strong interactions, and high-energy cosmic-ray physics, opening new directions at the interface of particle and astroparticle physics.
